IBU ("I Broke Up") Wear, a new apparel line derived from the life of Linda Sikes-Alexander, who passed away on January 23, 20011 from complications of sickle cell disease, will host a photo shoot introducing its inspirational apparel to the world. The photo shoot will honor the legacy of the "fashionista", also known as "Mama Linda", who encouraged others to look and be their best. The photo shoot will raise awareness of sickle cell disease, and IBU Wear is donating a percentage of their proceeds to the Otis Uduebor Sickle Cell Foundation to accomplish this mission. 5k & Sickle Cell Family Day

Join us for our 5th Annual "5k & Sickle Cell Family Day"! We will have a 5k run/walk in the morning followed by our FREE Sickle Cell Family Day picnic in the park with food, live entertainment, inspirational speakers, health information, mentor opportunities, fun, games, music, prizes and activities for all ages designed to connect families touched by sickle cell with each other and increase public awareness of sickle cell disease!

Admission: All food and festivities are FREE! $25 registration fee to participate in the 5k (includes t-shirt). Register by September 4 to qualify for early-bird and group discounts: $20 (individual) or $17 (team discount per person for groups of 4 or more).

Grand Prize Drawing Register by September 4 either online or by phone at 1-800-455-8949 to be eligible for our grand prize give-away! Must be present to win.

National Sickle Cell Awareness Month

September is National Sickle Cell Awareness Month! On September 21, 1983, President Ronald Reagan delivered Proclamation 5102, proclaiming the month of September as "National Sickle-Cell Anemia Awareness Month" and inviting "all Americans to join...in reaffirming our [Nation’s] commitment to reduce the burden of illness, disability, and premature death imposed by this disease."
